About Cate

Cate was born in Hampshire in 1971. From a young age she found a love for drawing and painting and has never lost that desire to create.

Cate lives & works from her studio in her Crofters Cottage on the border of Suffolk & Norfolk.  She shares her home with her husband, two sons & rescued Romanian street dog, ‘Murron’.

When Cate isn’t in her studio, she enjoys spending time walking her dog in the beautiful local countryside or cooking and baking delicious treats.  Sometimes you’ll find her browsing book shops and second-hand shops or drinking tea from vintage crockery & eating cake with friends!

Cate finds creating artwork a kind of ‘therapy’ helping her find serenity within her busy mind.  When she is in her studio working, she finds herself in a timeless place of peace and tranquillity.  A time to stop and smell the roses.

Her still life paintings reflect her desire to find simplicity in the objects around her, be it from the natural world or things of a bygone age.

Her tendency is to capture fine detail, whilst keeping edges naturally soft, to give the viewer a sense of seeing something with the naked eye.

Using a mixture of traditional oil painting methods alongside more modern techniques, her still life paintings portray a sense of simplicity and stillness, whilst capturing depth and detail.  They are painted on cradled wood birch panels which Catherine prepares herself, to achieve a velvety smooth surface, ideal for the immense amount of detail present in her work.

Cate sells her work across the globe, with collectors in the US and Canada.
